The annual North American Paperboard Packaging Competition is a premier competition for carton manufacturers involved in the concept, design, print, performance, and shelf appeal of paperboard packaging. Every year the best paperboard package designs from across North America are submitted and judged by a jury of packaging professionals, industry experts and professors. This year marked the 78th year of competition and our Great Northern Packaging – Oshkosh facility is pleased to announce it has received an Excellence Award.
The Crafthouse Cocktails packages feature high-quality graphics that are printed onto the package using an offset printer with UV inks and coatings. The packages are predominantly covered in a bright, vibrant color that coincide with the tropical drink inside the package. A matte background coating and spot high gloss coating are applied to the package along with registered embossing that allows the carton to stand out on the shelf.
Crafthouse Cocktails requested a durable package, so our designers chose a thicker laminate substrate that could protect the product during shipping and withstand being handled multiple times at retail. An opening feature is designed in the front of the box to allow the end user to put the spout through and easily pour the drink. An engineered flap design and scoring profiler were used to enable the carton to erect easily either when being hand filled or on autofill equipment.
