Food and Beverage Certifications
Great Northern Packaging currently holds two certifications related to food and beverage. You can rest assured that Great Northern can and will handle your food packaging in the most proper manner from start to finish. Learn more about our certifications here.
The first certification applies to our Oshkosh facility and is from the Safe Quality Food Institute. It validates that robust food safety control systems have been effectively implemented in their manufacturing process. SQF is recognized by retailers and food service providers around the world who require a rigorous, credible food safety management system.
The second certification applies to our Appleton facility and is from the American Institute of Baking (AIB). AIB inspections evaluate the adequacy of five categories that a food-grade warehouse must meet in order to keep products wholesome and safe. These five categories are methods and practices, maintenance, cleaning, pest management, and management and teamwork.
The American Institute of Baking
The AIB, formally known as the American Institute of Baking, has provided inspections and audits for food grade warehouse services in more than 120 countries for over 60 years. Comprehensive AIB inspections evaluate the adequacy of five categories that a food grade warehouse must meet in order to keep products wholesome and safe. These five categories are: methods and practices, maintenance, cleaning, pest management and management and teamwork. From the extensive audits the AIB conducts to become an AIB Certified Warehouse, you can rest assured that Great Northern can and will handle your food packaging in the most proper manner from start to finish.

Safe Quality Food Institute
The Great Northern Oshkosh facility, providing retail packaging solutions, has achieved SQF Edition 8.1 certification (Modules 2 and 13) from the Safe Quality Food Institute, validating that robust food safety control systems have been effectively implemented in their manufacturing process.
